Today’s question:

Best Restaurant Moment

Andrew’s on the Corner in Detroit, watching the Wings in the Stanley Cup Finals.

We did shots from the hockey stick and it’s one of the first times in a long time A Panda came out with us!

I don’t know where to start!  This weekend was seriously loads of fun!  Probably one of my best birthdays.

Let’s start with my vanity.  I got my hair colored on Saturday.

None

It’s the first time I’ve had real color put in.  She had to lighten it and then put the dye in.  What a long process! LOL but it was fun because my colorist is really cool.  C came with me too.

Friday:

After work a group of us went downtown to a bar to watch the Red Wings in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.  This was our face after the game.

pout

In all honesty, I didn’t watch much of the game, we were too busy doing this…

And by the time I realized just how bad it was, well, I didn’t care so much.  We finished off the night by going back to our house and playing ping pong.

Saturday:

I got my hair did and then rushed back home to put on my new shirt to go out to dinner.  I don’t usually spend $38 on a shirt but I loved it and rocked it.  Thank you Victoria’s Secret.

We had drinks at the bar with some awesome friends!

Sunday:

Was like any other Sunday.  I ran errands and tried to enjoy the sunshine when the clouds didn’t cover it up.  My dad also made me pancit and brought it over.  Yum!

Realization: The older I get, the less I give a Fuck what anyone else thinks.  It’s very liberating and a bit scary cuz really,  I just don’t care.

Because we can’t stand the coverage on Versus we are watching the Wings game on channel 9.  For all of you not from Detroit this is CBC.  Yes Canadian Broadcasting.

Don Cherry and I don’t always see eye to eye.  But I do enjoy him most of the time.  He redeemed himself tonight on coach’s corner after the first intermission

“I don’t often make picks, but when I do pick, I pick Detroit.”
*Editor’s note: I think that’s the quote*

Could it be? Will Datsyuk play tonight?  Loved this video.  It had both my favorite players! Datsyuk and Ozzie.  W00T!!

On being out the last 6 games with a foot injury:

“This is not fun to watch,” Datsyuk said. “I take in lots of beer.”

Let me start off by saying that I honestly don’t want to offend anyone or lose my wonderful blog friends over this, (I’m looking at you Mermanda) because it is just a sport.

And maybe if a certain team member for Pittsburgh played for the D I wouldn’t be as hostile.

That said, SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT CROSBITCH (Crosby) NBC Pierre McGuire!  For the love of GOD could you be a more biased commentator?  We get you are a Pittsburgh fan.  Awesome.  Go announce for a fucking Pittsburgh station not for the whole country.  Hey I have an idea NBC, why didn’t you take games 3 and 4 in Pittsburgh.  We’d be happy to have Versus cover when the games are at the Joe.  Look,  I know that most people, NHL Bettman included, don’t want to see the Wings win the Stanley Cup 2 years in a row.  I would apologize that we have a fucking kick ass team but I’M NOT SORRY.

We work hard.

You want some proof that Pierre Maguire is biased?

“Don’t you agree Edzo, that the Penguins aren’t in trouble until they lose on home ice?”

and…

“If Detroit is going to defend its title and stifle the ever-emerging Pittsburgh franchise, they will need to re-write history [referencing Oilers vs Rangers]. If not, this could be the beginning of a new dynasty in the NHL.”

“The making of dynasty requires star caliber players who are locked up to long-term contracts,” explained McGuire. “In the case of Pittsburgh, you have that with Malkin, Crosby, Jordan Staal and Marc-Andre Fleury. So you have a lot of the key components signed. Nothing is guaranteed because injuries and questionable calls come into play, but if you look at it right now, they’re on a path to success for a long time.”

(I had a hell of a hard time finding the quotes from the game last night.  If anyone has any to add please feel free.)

I’m all about having a favorite team, but c’mon, have some professionalism.

I’m also sick and tired of hearing about how the Wings will lose because they are old.

SERIOUSLY?!

What about the players we’ve brought up from Grand Rapids? You know the ones scoring motherfucking goals.  Like Abdelkader, you know the tall guy, scored the THIRD goal in the first two games of the series.

Or  Ericsson who missed ONE game for an appendectomy.

I’m also sick and tired of hearing that we don’t have the goaltending.

WHAT?!

Have you seen Osgood standing on his head?  We couldn’t get this far without him.  Yes he didn’t have the best season, BUT he’s worked through it and playing at the top of his game now.  Did you see he stopped 31 of 32 shots both games?  Oh that’s right, we don’t have top goaltending.  Get your head out of your ass.  Those of you said that Fluery was a better goaltender…um really?

osgood 2009 finals

I’m not just a Wings fan that’s whining or bitching about the fact we don’t get the respect on national tv we deserve.  Did you know that during Game 1 of the series (in game time ONLY)  they said Crosby 76 times.  That’s not including intermission, pregame or postgame.  I know he’s talented (I still hate him), I’ve seen him out on the ice.  But I’ve also heard (from Detroit radio stations) that Malkin is a better player than CrosBitch.  It’s just too bad that Bettman has hand picked CrosBitch to be the fucking face of the NHL.

And that’s just this  hockey girl’s rant.  It’s all about the Wing’s depth.  In Detroit we don’t have much good going on right now, but we have the Wings.

For fun here it the fight at the end of the game between Malkin and Zetterburg.

Go Wings!

I need a break from work, so I’m going to bullet my weekend. I know you are totally like, ’sweet, thanks for telling me that’.

  • Tae Kwon Do tournament Saturday
    • It was an hour behind, I was one of the first events. I was there from 10am-6pm. That made me crabby
    • I went for a jog at 8am. I suck at jogging that early
  • Grocery shopping
  • I had to get up at 6:30am on a Sunday
  • Kidney Walk at the Detroit Zoo
    • we got some free food but there was no coffee
    • The polar bears were quite active
    • The sun was shining but the wind was chilly
    • I finally got to give M her birthday present & hold her 3yrold hand
    • dscn0926

    • Hanging out with my dad, C and my closet friends
  • Went to see IC’s dad in the hospital, pray for him please. He’s been unconscious for over a week now
  • He was at the same hospital that my mom was at so it was a little hard for me
  • Watched the Wings Game! 5-2 Wings!!! W00T!
  • Got sucked into a Lifetime Movie

I’m defintely not ready for it to be Monday!  Especially when it seems like everyone and their mom was working over the weekend.  Geez my inbox is a little overloaded!  Not to mention those same people are blowing up my phone.  Leave me alone!  Also, a meeting from 1-3 makes me crabby.

Hope you are having a better Monday!

The Wings game last night?

AMAZING!

Now that it is over and we won, I can say it was frickin’ awesome.  Close enough to keep you on the edge of your seat.  The experience of a game 7 playoff game is something I’ll remember.  The waving of the pom poms made me dizzy as 20,000 fans chanted.  The sound was deafening.    I’ve been to regular season games, shoot I went to game 5 in the same series, but last night the fans were crazy loud.  The energy was high and our Wings pulled it off.

Look at the wheels on Helm!

Not to mention Happy Hudler’s goal,  my boyfriend Datsyuk’s pass to Samuelson or Cleary’s game winning goal!

The lyrics from Bon Jovi’s song played as fans exited the Joe chanting and screaming “Ozzie” or “Go Wings”,

We are halfway there, livin on a prayer.

I know I complain every time Monday rolls around but seriously this weekend felt jam packed.

Friday, I had a lot of running around to do and then we met the lovely Maeko for dinner for her birthday. Fun times.

Saturday, I had some sidework I had to do. I’m kind of excited about the project. I shouldn’t be too difficult and some extra cash is always nice. I am saving up to buy a new digital camera because the one that C bought me to replace mine after it died is just not my friend. Suggestions on what I should do with it when I buy another? It wasn’t cheap. Craigslist, maybe?

Saturday evening C and I worked around the house. All my summer clothes are at the front of my closet. You hear that Mother Nature? No more snow or cold weather!

Sunday we worked around the house and then went to the Wings game! WooHOO! That was tons of fun. Maybe a little more fun than should be had on a Sunday. (That’s my slight headache speaking).

Game 5 was tons of fun!

And a couple more for good measure.

C has been playing hockey since he was 3 years old. He’s been watching the Wings since then too. He knows a little bit a lot about hockey.

C: Datsyuk hasn’t been on his mark in scoring since the playoffs started
Me: Maybe I need to sex him up a little bit
C: *stares at me
Me: What? He’s my boyfriend
C: You better watch it
Me: He’s been hitting more though
C: Yeah he makes up for not scoring goals, that’s why the Wings are so deep they have players that can play all positions

The Red Wings have done it! The Stanley Cup is coming home to HOCKEY TOWN!

The Pens didn’t make it easy. I held my breath & profanities and jumped up off the couch during the last seconds when that puck came dangerously close to tying up the game yet again in the final seconds.

I love the interview with Ozzie when he said he was going to smack Hoodler (? i think) in the side of the head. Loved the goal that Fleury sat on and pushed the puck into the net.

CONGRATULATIONS WINGS!!!

~Side note: Much respect to Fluery and Hossa of the Pens.

boating Even though today is our anniversary, we celebrated yesterday by putting C’s toy our boat in the water.

We bicker a lot about the boat, I won’t go into it here but the issues of the boat raise my blood pressure. I think we stopped talking to one another a half an hour before we put the boat in. But once you get it in and start it up all the animosity and stress fades.

C’s been putzing and tinkering with the boat for about 2 months now, getting it ready to put in the water. Apparently, it will now go 4mph(? knots per hour?) faster because of the tweaking he’s done. I think I saw the speedo hit 60mph but I was too busy hanging on for dear life (nervous much?).

I should also note, that I’m proud of our one year anniversary and we didn’t kill each other ;)

Here are a couple more pics I took while we were out there

boating sunday

Since we were starving when we got home it was our anniversary I made dinner. Turkey paninis and pasta :)
