I’m like a little (Filipino/Irish/English/French/Czech) Betty Crocker!

I started off with tropical fruit an macadamia nut pancakes, turkey sausage & fruit

After shopping I made chocolate chip with walnut cookies and homemade granola bars.   It’s really flexible for you to add whatever your heart desires.  Since it was my first time I followed the recipe minus the cranberries because I forgot to buy them.  I also added a little honey.  I think next time I’d play with it a little bit more.  Maybe add some spices like cinnamon and nutmeg to start.  They were really quick, I think it took me 10 minutes to stir the ingredients and throw the pan in the oven.

While I was in the kitchen today I started compiling a wish list of things I wish I had.

Kitchen Aid Mixer in red

New metal measuring spoons & cups

New Wooden Utensils

New Baking Sheets

What is your kitchen missing?

As I mentioned Saturday was amazing because of the rain.  Sunday, not so much.  It finally felt like summer here in the Mitten.  The hot sticky mess of 96 degrees with heat index of over 100.  I say this lovingly, please don’t think that I’m saying it’s too hot.  I have been waiting since June for this weather!  The storms, not so much.

At my old house we hardly ever lost power (except for when that whole grid was blown a few summers ago).  We also didn’t have a basement that flooded so all these inconveniences are new to me.    And I’m not loving them.

At 9ish last night a storm rolled through.  It didn’t last particularly long but it did some damage.  Power lines and tree limbs and trunks came crashing down.  I went to bed hoping that the power would go on in the middle of the night.  Nope.  I got up this morning and bought four bags of ice to save the $80 I just spent on groceries on Saturday (and let me tell you we are running short on cash so the thought of having to buy more food made me ill).

C stayed home to tend to the basement which could potentially flood and to get our baby generator working.  I checked the electric company’s website and they predicted us to be without power until tonight or tomorrow morning.  With a new string of thunderstorms coming through tonight  I wasn’t very optimistic.  Our neighbors have a big generator that C hooked our fridge up to.

Just recently he called to tell me our power was back on.  I hope it stays on!  Fingers crossed!

June is my favorite month and it’s not only because my birthday is just around the corner. We have hockey playoffs and my anniversary. And usually, the weather is starting to warm up nicely.

So sit back and relax. It’s Monday morning, so I think pictures is a nice easy way to work our way into the week.

I finally got a new camera because the one I bought at Christmas sucked.  If you are contemplating a new digital camera I don’t recommend Nikkon.  After talking to the sales guy at Best Buy and doing some review reading online I settled on the Canon Powershot in red.  So far so good, I like it. :)

Saturday we had tons of errands to run and then a graduation party.  Finally,  after I anticipating all day we got to Andrew’s on the Corner in Detroit to watch game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals.  I won’t rub it in the Wing’s won 5-0.  Truth be told, I’m a little afraid of the game in Pittsburgh tomorrow.  I wouldn’t be surprised if they won.  At least game 7 will be at home.

Sunday we spend an obscene amount of money at the store.  We finally broke down and bought a patio set and also chairs and a small table for our front porch.  It took 3 hours to put that bitch together.  It felt good when we were done though.

I know I complain every time Monday rolls around but seriously this weekend felt jam packed.

Friday, I had a lot of running around to do and then we met the lovely Maeko for dinner for her birthday. Fun times.

Saturday, I had some sidework I had to do. I’m kind of excited about the project. I shouldn’t be too difficult and some extra cash is always nice. I am saving up to buy a new digital camera because the one that C bought me to replace mine after it died is just not my friend. Suggestions on what I should do with it when I buy another? It wasn’t cheap. Craigslist, maybe?

Saturday evening C and I worked around the house. All my summer clothes are at the front of my closet. You hear that Mother Nature? No more snow or cold weather!

Sunday we worked around the house and then went to the Wings game! WooHOO! That was tons of fun. Maybe a little more fun than should be had on a Sunday. (That’s my slight headache speaking).

Game 5 was tons of fun!

And a couple more for good measure.

showing off my new jersey. datsyuk = my boyfriend

C has been playing hockey since he was 3 years old. He’s been watching the Wings since then too. He knows a little bit a lot about hockey.

C: Datsyuk hasn’t been on his mark in scoring since the playoffs started
Me: Maybe I need to sex him up a little bit
C: *stares at me
Me: What? He’s my boyfriend
C: You better watch it
Me: He’s been hitting more though
C: Yeah he makes up for not scoring goals, that’s why the Wings are so deep they have players that can play all positions
