happy sunday

08-03-2010 by rialeilani

I had a kickass Sunday!  And to be honest I woke up a nervous ball of energy because I knew I’d be seeing my family later in the day. (I’ll apologize now, this post is image heavy and a lil on the long winded side!)

Aerial yoga was AWESOME.  It was full of accomplishments for our last class of this 8 week session.  It is definitely mind blowing how much Sarah, Mandy and I have achieved.  We have tons more strength and stamina than we had when we first started.  Not only that but the difference even between last week and this week was stellar.

Sarah totally rocked the midair footlock and most of all she conquered her fear of the half cross and full iron cross.  For the full iron cross she had to do it twice because I didn’t have my camera ready.  She’s even smiling!

Mandy totally kicked the fabrics ass, look at her splits! (I stole this picture from Paul’s Facebook)

I, my friends, finally flipped upside down in the locust!  We only did this trick once during the session and I almost had it.  Yesterday I was determined to do it.

I also got pretty with pointing my toes, something I learned from Sarah :)

Look at the ghosties in this one!

And this was something new we did in warm ups. I’m not going to lie I freaked out and might have screamed a little bit taking my leg off the bar (I stole this picture from Paul’s facebook too)

This class was just totally awesome.  I don’t even have the words to describe it.  I love pushing myself and trying new things.  I can’t wait for the next session to start and to initiate Jenni into the circus world!  I know she’ll rock it!

In other news, Mae is having an awesome giveaway on her blog.  It’s a Hana Elite 1″ flat iron hair straightener.  It’s ok if you don’t enter, that means I have more chance of winning.  :)   I curled my hair this weekend with my flat iron it was so easy!

And lastly, I saw my grams yesterday.  Of course we pretended like nothing ever happened.  Like I said, she’s family so what am I going to do?  I just know now not to let her in too much, because when I need someone, she’s no replacement for my Mom.

I would also like to mention that my cousin T is expecting her first baby in May and she is adorable.  She’s so tiny!  It was really nice to see her and her husband yesterday.

mitten bloggers & yoga are awesomeness

I had a love/hate affair with this weekend.  The LOVES were the best of the best and the HATES well, you know.

The SUPER FUN FANTASTIC

– The mitten blogger meet up, skillfully arranged by Sillygrrl.  She planned a great night of dinner and bowling in Midtown Detroit.  I haven’t been to the Majestic since I saw Treble Charger play there in 2001!

(Ginger Mandy, JenRem, Maeko, LauReality, Sillygrrl, Supergirl)

Strikes!

This is an awesome group of ladies!  I’m so glad I finally got to meet all of you in person.  Supergirl (along with Sillygrrl) was one of my first Michigan bloggers in my reader.  It was nice to see her face :)

(Missed you Mel!)

– Hanging out with Maeko before the meetup.  I <3 her.  She helped me with my makeup and I might have spilled some secrets on the way to the meetup.  Afterwards we drove around looking for a grocery store open to buy mac and cheese.  But our mac and cheese eating and glee watching plan came apart because of her sick doggie.  She also let me borrow socks to wear with the cute bowling shoes they make you wear.  It should be said that I was quite bratty about it, but I think I’m ok since she’s family and she can’t exactly get rid of me. Haha.

– Aerial Yoga – I got up on the high trapeze!!  And I flipped upside down on the fabric.  I don’t have any photographic evidence, but I think Ginger Mandy will vouch for me :)

–  Sparring on Saturday morning.  I got Master J in the head.  He even stopped to give me a high five.  Don’t worry, I didn’t have time to be excited about it because the next round I got a foot, firmly planted in my face.

The CRAPTASTIC

– Going to lunch with my great Aunt who is in her late 70’s who became faint after lunch.  I’m the last person you want around when you aren’t feeling well.  It was also reminiscent of my mom and completely got under my skin.

– Sunday I got up feeling quite emotional because these past couple of weeks have been really wearing on me.  I’ve had a lot of stuff going on.  Some really great, some not so fun but things that needed to be done.  I’m stressing about my black belt testing and yada, yada.  Bottom line I tried to get some errands out of the way Sunday before aerial yoga.  I was running late but thought I had enough time time get in and out of CVS.  Um no, they’ve only been filling my birth control pills for years now.  They took Sunday to mess it up and instead of spending 2 minutes in the store it was more like 15.  I might have bawled my eyes out on the way to yoga.

– When I got to yoga I was split up from Sillygrrl and Ginger Mandy.  Ok, totally not the day for that, I almost started crying again.  Yeah, I was that girl.  What a big baby.  It turned out ok.  I totally saw Ginger Mandy kick ass on the trapeze (you go girl!) and I heard that Sillygrrl was totally climbing the fabric to the moon.  I have no doubt, she’s inspirational on the fabric.

– I got home from the grocery store to find Scooby chewed more of the couch cushion we haven’t started paying on.

– I had just made some tea, the dvd ready to play Crouching Tiger Hidden dragon, and made a comforting grilled cheese when someone knocked on my door.  My friend AP stopped by with her 2 kids (ages 1 and 3) and husband.  While I was happy to see them because it’s been so long, last night was not the perfect night.

How was your weekend?

aerial bloggers & weekend recap

18-01-2010 by rialeilani

These past couple of Mondays have been awful for me.  Today I’m blaming it on the fact I haven’t slept well.  I’ve been dreaming like I’m watching tv.  I don’t know the people in my dreams and it’s just life that’s going on.  Last night was all about this woman getting married on the beach.  I don’t even know, it was boring but I couldn’t “change the channel or turn it off”.  I’ve also been running around since Friday and I don’t think my mind ever had a chance to unwind.

If you follow me on twitter you might have saw my annoying tweets about not going to taekwondo and then yes I am going.  I called my dad to tell him I wasn’t going to make it but then was filled with this shame, like I was being a disappointment for not going.  After a half an hour of feeling like I made the wrong decision I called him back and said I was coming in.

I test in 12 days!  I have to get 6 photos to turn in with my 1st degree application.  I will be considered a weapon. Heh, me a weapon.

I worked from home on Friday.  I think I actually worked harder on Friday than during the week because I not only worked for work but I cleaned the bathroom, did laundry, dishes, ran to target and made it to taekwondo.  It was crazy.  I got up at 9 and didn’t sit down until 4 to watch Lady Gaga on Oprah and then left to go to taekwondo.  I’m tired just thinking about my Friday.

Saturday was a lot of errand running after I got my ass kicked at sparring.

And Sunday, oh Sunday.  I met up with Ginger Mandy and Sarah for our first aerial yoga class.   It was so much fun!  I can’t wait to go back next week.  And these ladies are all kinds of awesome.

After class I rushed home to change and go to a retirement party.  I swear I was home by 8 but then there was all the normal Sunday night things that needed to be done.  I feel like my brain is going a mile a minute and the brakes are broken.

a little betty crocker

So you know how sometimes blogging can get dull and you are kind of in a slump with nothing to write.  Um yeah, I guess I’m out of that funk because now I’m stressing because I have to many posts in my head and not enough time to write them!  Ok, I won’t complain about that because I like it better than having nothing to write at all.

The past weekend (I’ll be starting on Thursday because I had Friday off W00T!)

Thursday…

I went out with The Watson after work with plans to go grab some dinner and make a 7pm showing of New Moon.  2 margaritas in we realized that it was after 7 so instead of hurrying we ordered another drink and decided to catch the later showing.  She makes me laugh so hard that I don’t mind missing my workout because it’s like I did a 1,000 sit ups anyways.  We got to the theater with plenty of time only to realize that I left my debit card at the restaurant.  We had to go back and really I needed like 3 forms of identification to get my card back.  Ok I’m might be exaggerating but really we were gone all of 10 mins and it took forever to get it back.

When we got back to the movie theater we still had some time so we decided to get popcorn even though neither of us was hungry.  Um drunk?  Yes, why yes I think we were.  So we get popcorn and get back to the theater and it had already started!  This is what we wanted to avoid!  So it’s dark and we’re finding seats and we hear this thunk.  The Watson was like, “i think that was my phone.”  I lit my phone up to see if I can see it on the floor and I may have pulled her knee and was looking on the floor.  Her response?  “stop raping me’   OMG I could not stop laughing.  I think I might have snorted.  (ahem a couple times)  Yeah…we were those annoying people in the movie.  Sorry!

And all I’m going to say about the movie was that the middle was my part because that was where the most shirtlessness took place.   The Watson is seriously one of my favorite people.

Friday…

C woke up with this searing pain down his arm so he didn’t go into work.  I spent a lot of the day listening to him bitch.  I finally bought my own copy of 30 day shred and then we went out for The Watson’s bday.

Seriously one of my favorite people.

I had 3 martinis so I was feeling good.  You can tell because my face is red and my eyes look creepy lol

One of C and I just for good measure.  He was a sport going out when he was in pain.

Saturday…

We hung the Christmas lights on the house.  I would just like to say I don’t like being on the roof of the house.  I could just see myself rolling off.  I made a new homemade mac & cheese recipe from Real Simple after coming home from Target and the grocery store.

Sunday…

I did a lot of shopping…for myself!  I was also fricking Betty Crocker!  I made Sarah’s artichoke and spinach lasagna.  OMG it was fucking awesome.  I <3 her recipes!  I also made brownies.  Mmmmmm and watched The Holiday.

How was your weekend?  Do you have a friend that you always have a good time with?

Today would have been my Mom’s 54th birthday.   So I’m sending birthday love up to heaven today.  :)

In other news this weekend was BUSY!

** Friday was fantabulous. I didn’t have to leave the house until 5pm which was lovely because it was raining ALL day!

** I actually squeezed in some baking and cooking.   I made pumpkin scones I found over at Larissa’s.  I have to say this was my first time making scones and I think they turned out decently.  I love that they are not overly sweet with just a hint of pumpkin.  I also made pumpkin spice and fresh apple spice pancakes.  I have leftovers for breakfast today and tomorrow!  Lastly,  I tried out a new mac and cheese recipe.  All I’m going to say is we finished all of it.

** I had my final pretest before my blackbelt test in January.  I’m really excited because as it looks now my dad is going to be testing for his 4th degree blackbelt with me!!

oct_24

** I built the final firewood rack outside and loaded it up with the wood C split a couple of weeks ago.  I’m really glad that is done because it was tedious and my shoulder is still been bothering me :(

** We bought our halloween costumes this weekend.  Thank you for all your input.  I can’t tell you what we are going to be, you’ll have to wait for pictures!  I’m mean aren’t I?  I will say that C decided he didn’t want to wear a mask all night so he changed his mind on his costume so he wanted us to go together as a couple theme.  Here’s a teaser…I may have a couple other teaser shots for you the rest of the week ;)

** I’m rocking my glasses today because my eyes are tired from not sleeping well last night.  I just got them in August and they need to be taken in to be adjusted.  So annoying, but I love them anyways.

Happy Monday!

yep it’s that kind of massage place

05-10-2009 by rialeilani

I’ve had this really bad pain in my shoulder for over a month now.  I’m pretty sure it’s a knot.  I begged C to make massage appointments for us.  On Friday he called this Thai Massage place by our house.  I did some research and was really excited about experiencing a real Thai Massage.  It’s a lot of intense stretching.

I was telling some people about it on Friday and they warned it might be that kind of place, you know the ones with a happy ending…I was ready to just go on Saturday and see what it was all about but when C got home from hockey he was questioning maybe we should go somewhere else.

I decided to call and ask if it was authentic Thai Massage and was done on the floor.  The girl that answered kept stuttering and basically didn’t know a damn thing.  Totally pissed me off.  Hello you don’t know if your massages are on the floor or a table?  How do you not know that.  Frustrated C called.  (Yes we are like high school girls, one calls and then the other calls 2 seconds later)  She seemed to know more information for him, saying that they have massages on mattresses.  Um Yeah, so not going there.  Though I am interested in what the inside of that place looks like.

We ended up getting relaxation massages at a spa not far from our house.  It was my first massage ever.  I went for the hot stone massage and while it felt good and did relax my muscles it did nothing for the knot in my shoulder.  I found a couple legit Thai Massage places that I’m eager to try.  But first I think I’m going to go to a therapeutic massage first.  I’m in so much pain! I just need to find the time to go.

Does therapeutic massage count as a doctor appointment?

We are going up north for the Lighthouse Festival.  I’m just happy to be getting away! Squeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

belated labor day post

09-09-2009 by rialeilani

I stole this from Erin.  muhahaha…

In honor of Labor Day here is a post on all the places I’ve worked:

Hostess – Dario’s Restaurant: I learned how to take orders and about the very interesting type of people that work in restaurants.

Customer Service Associate – Sears: I worked 2 Christmas seasons in the kids department.  Never. Again.  People are disgusting they pee in dressing rooms.  Yes, pee.  Sick.

Wayne State – Student Assistant : I worked here for 5 years doing administrative tasks.  I actually loved the people I worked with more than the job.  We drank and passed out under desks.  I had sex once on a said desk.  We hung out at the bar afterwards.  It was a pretty good time usually.  Of course we were all catty talking behind one another’s backs and now I don’t think many of us stayed in touch with one another.

Pure Postcards: It was a mind numbing boring job that I wanted to gouge my eyes out.  We were housed in a concrete building with no windows.  I took up smoking so I could get a smoke break and hang out on the back deck.

Jani-King – Receptionist: THE. WORST. JOB. EVER.  The people were obnoxious and snotty and I was always running around.  I was bitchy when I came home every night and I wanted to cry every morning when my alarm went off.  A 12-line phone system will do that to you when you have to do all kinds of administrative duties and deal with crabby franchisees.  Not to mention your boss is a passive aggressive bitch because she’s as miserable as you are.  Not to mention I had to wear pantyhose and dress up EVERY DAY.

Wayne State – Technician: A temporary position doing data entry.  Got to hang out with the people from my Student Assistant position but it wasn’t the same.

Current Job – Web Content Admin:  LOVE most days.

Where have you worked?  What was your favorite job?

taking a quick break to say hello

The good news…I stayed home this weekend and helped my dad paint.  8 hours worth of painting.  No that’s not the good news, that would be that I’m not sore, which means my arms and shoulders aren’t as out of shape as I thought they might be.

The other good news is that most of the 2,000 square feet is painted.  10ft walls be damned. 1 office, 2 bathrooms, 1 hallway and 1 changing room be damned.

Standing at the front door - left side

Standing at the front door - looking right - see the red in the back? that's my dad

With good news there is bad news too right? Right.

Saturday night the lights in the hallway and bathroom decided to quit working.  They have always been a bit funny, you know flickering and burning out light bulbs.  All I can think is FIRE.  So we turned the breaker off to the bathroom and C has been trying to figure out the problem.  He spent at least a couple hours checking circuits and other things I don’t care to understand.  He’s not an electrician but you know what guys?  He is handy.  I don’t give him enough credit but he really is.  So there. I’m doing it now, just don’t tell him ok?  He has a tendency to let things go to his head ;-)

I’m not going to lie.  I was a little bummed out we didn’t get to go up north and look at cabins.  But you were right and I needed to stay here.  My dad is always there to help us out and I wouldn’t have felt right about leaving.

Well I’m out of time, I need to get back to work.  Boo.

Happy Monday!

welcome!
