The past weekend was both long and short. It was one of those weekends that bends time. It was packed with events and errands that made me feel like I was constantly running around, yet I had time to park myself on the couch and mindlessly watch half of Gilmore Girls season 1.

After plans changed multiple times on Friday, Jenni and I went to yin yoga. The best idea ever because my legs and hips have been bothering me lately. Maybe I’m getting old. I didn’t want to overstretch anything because I had my first pretest for my 2nd degree blackbelt on Saturday. After laughing because one of the poses hurt so bad my hip was dying in agony, but I woke up Saturday feeling better than I had all week. YES!

Testing went pretty well. The kids were so cute and couldn’t wait to start. It’s amazing how much and fast they learn.

One of my oldest friends baby shower was on Sunday.  She is one of those friends that I do love because I’ve known her so long but we aren’t very close.  This is the type of event that makes me miss my mom immensely.  I must have done something right because karma was nice to me and I ended up sitting with a couple girls from her work that were easy to talk to.

When I got home C was back from up north and he made me dinner.  It was delicious and we finished off the weekend by watching Rescue Me.

Now I’m just counting days until Thursday, when my LONG weekend begins.  Starting off with Eminem and Jay-Z! :) :)

{song lyrics: Taio Cruz, Dyanmite}

There are things I don’t want to talk about right now.  Either because I wish it wasn’t real or I’m afraid if I talk about it I’ll jinx it.  Simply when I stop talking something has taken over my life.  When I stop talking something major is going on.  Maybe it’s one thing or maybe it’s a lot of little somethings.

Regardless…

I still feel a tiny inkling to keep up my little space in your google reader.

Things I learned this past weekend:

  • I could have graduated in 98-99 and still be 22 years old
  • I surprise people – I may always be the ‘cute girl’ (never sexy) but my dancing may have you inhaling sharply
  • It’s ok to finally confess some of the really horrible things that happened years ago that you never told anyone about.  (For example: almost drowning in the middle of a lake because your fucking asshole boyfriend left you with his incompetent friend, people doing lines of coke in the living room of a house you were visiting, being picked up at the Canadian border by your controlling boyfriend who wouldn’t let you go out with your friends, etc…)
  • It’s ok to name things you regret even when you cling to the belief you shouldn’t regret anything
  • I’m not the only one that gets nostalgic about a certain time
  • Trust your instincts
  • Playing games when you know all the rules is fun, there is something to be said about getting older and wiser

When is the last time you laughed like this?

Thanks to these two ladies: Jenni & LP,

I almost died from laughter.  Best way to die, just fyi.

There were a couple crazy nights at the local bar.  One night included a creepy guy that wouldn’t leave poor Jenni alone.  But she’s hot and awesome so I guess I can’t blame him.  But dang…he was gross.  We are all Beaver Certified. If you care to know, it’s called a beaver for two reasons: It has fur & because it eats wood.

The tubing adventure was all about A LOT of beer, new friends, Jenni getting stuck in the tube and no one actually helping untangle her, branches smacking people me in the head, Jenni getting a bruise from her awesome waterproof box, jello-jars, sex talk and most of all FUN.

There was a lot of noming and cheek kissing going on

Shotgunning beer FAIL

I can’t wait to do it all again next year!

The weather up north this weekend was pretty nice.  It was hot so I didn’t mind sitting outside by the fire.  Yeah I know that doesn’t make much sense but I’m not a big fan of chilling outside in the cold around a campfire.

I know, I’m weird.

Friday was gorgeous and we spent most of the day on the boat.  Followed by relaxing by the fire.  I did get eaten alive Saturday afternoon and I’m ridiculously itchy though.

How was your weekend?

My weekend was pretty fucking spectacular.  I was so messed up Friday that the memories and moments are still resurfacing.  For better or for worse.

Did you know you could shotgun a beer from a bottle?  Come hang out with me, I’ll pass on my new found knowledge.

Oh, Friday.

Saturday I got up from a little amount of sleep and waited for LP to come over.  We were going to get our eyebrows done but when I told her the little trick about shotgunning beers out of bottles she had to try it.  So at 11am that’s what we did.

We ran some errands, I talked her ear off and then we came back to get ready for a graduation party.  Cue more beer.

She had plans that night so I stayed in and chilled.  I feel asleep before 11pm and my friend Raych called me but I was too out of it to answer.  She texted me and it’s crazy how the past always comes back.

After talking to her today she is going to bring some cupcake wine to my house tomorrow.  I’m for sure excited!

I’ll save Sunday for another post, but I’ve been really into the dance music.  I think it’s time for some club action ASAP.

Enrique Iglesia – I like it

Usher ft Pitbull – DJ Got Us Falling In Love Again

Any other suggestions for me?!

This past weekend was and will be my longest vacation of the summer.  The weather couldn’t have been any better.  Sunshine, blue skies and warm temperatures.  Mother Nature must have been trying to make up for the chilly summer we had last year.

I’ll just tell you that there was a lot of:

  • Laughing
  • Beer
  • Sun
  • Boating
  • New Friends
  • Jell-O Shots

There wasn’t a lot of time for

  • Cleaning
  • Arguing
  • Cooking
  • Reading
  • Sleeping

It was a pretty great weekend.  Definitely a 4th of July to remember.

A good way to get back into the swing of things.  A few weekend shots…

Clearly summer decided it was too early and left. Come back. Please?!

This past weekend C’s friend, his wife and their son came up to check out the cottage. While I do like them, perfectly nice people, I don’t have much in common with his wife. She is a lovely person but I found the conversation forced and I don’t think we actually got each other’s humor. Not to mention that she has been with C’s friend since she was 16 so they have lots of stories together where I’m left to bluntly, grin and bear it.

Oh well, it wasn’t too bad. And it’s over now :)

My birthday is in one week!!! Squeee!!  Honestly, I don’t have anything planned so it’s not like I’m counting down to anything but the actual day.  Meh, it’s my birthday I can do what I want. haha

It seriously poured Saturday night so we spent much of it in the screened in porch.  I made microwave s’mores since we didn’t have any dry firewood.  I might have had 5.  Maybe.  Probably.  Ok, I totally did.

(Sidenote: The new Eminem song is on and I just saw it advertised for the NHL playoffs last night and I got a little pissy.  The Wings aren’t in the finals, they shouldn’t be able to use the Eminem song!)

The dogs are finally starting to ease into weekends at the cottage.

They still come home and pass out like they did something ridiculously exhausting.  We took the boat up last weekend but still need to get the new tags.  I’m hoping in a couple weeks we’ll be able to take it out.  YESSSSSSS!  I want to get out on the wakeboard!

Who’s coming up for the 4th?!

This past weekend I did something I haven’t done since I was a child.  I went to the sub-wide garage sales around my house.  I used to go every summer with my Grandma.  She would give me, LP and AP a couple dollars in quarters and off we’d go.

Since buying our  cottage we’ve needed little things like tables, glasses and odds and ends and I figured that going to some garage sales would be perfect. JP came with me and scored some cool stuff while I feel in love it with it all over again.  I spent $36.50

shelf – $4
lamp – $4
table – $2
glider – $15
Drink Sign – $1
5 Glasses (in plastic bag) – .25
Comforter – $2
Blanket – $3
Cabinet – $5
Liko – not included :)

Friday night we made the 3 hour trek up north, which ended up taking closer to 4 hours because of the torrential downpour. We picked up LP while I had a panic attack from hell the whole ride up there. It was truly awful. LP and C are two peas in a pod. She’s become good friends with C over the years and they can both put down some beer. They drank a 12 pack Friday night in a couple hours when we first arrived.  It would have been more but C wasn’t thinking and when they finished those all the stores were closed.

Saturday began with a frantic search for coffee only to find that the town was out of power (not us thankfully). Burger King was open so we stood in a relatively short line for a long amount of time. When we got back around 11 there was a 24 case of beer and shitload of floor tiles and paint calling our names. C started on the floors while LP and I painted the last bedroom (a blue that I later decided is WAY too dark, but I don’t want to redo it!).

We finished somewhere around 12:30am. So 13.5 hours and 36 beers later (I didn’t have any and they had to get another 12 pack) the living room, 1 bedroom and kitchen were tiled and the last bedroom was painted. Without LP we wouldn’t have gotten so much done. The joke was C is a Union worker, taking as many breaks as possible or getting distracted by shiny objects. LP and I on the other hand are immigrant workers or woman…who just want to get shit done. (Yes that was a little stereotypical, but stereotypes come from somewhere people. Not to mention before the whole auto thing blew up, the guys sweeping floors were making somewhere around $20/hour)

I took pictures! Yay! *Gasp…

notice the grossness on the floor to the right, it's got 30-50 years of dirt/grim on it

I realize that the new tile we put in is hideous but it’s clean and it was CHEAP. 28 cents per square foot.

We’ll be replacing that disgusting green closet door and refinishing the cabinets

I’m still feeling really crappy with a cold I’ve been trying to fight off.  I was going to do multiple posts but I’m so excited about this weekend that I think I’m going to cram it all into one.  So you’ve been warned :)

Saturday morning was my last aerial yoga class of the session and I probably won’t sign up for another one until the fall (if I have the money).  I adore it, if you can’t tell by how much I talk about it.  I did a whole trick that included a drop (that I may have made me scream as a fell).  In case you care, diaper stag – swingset – locust – forward drop – hip something.

The last sequence I went through to finish up class was diaper stag – something – corkscrew – knee hang

Saturday night I attended the best wedding reception ever! It was held at the Henry Ford Museum. It felt like I was in a movie at fancy, classy party. More importantly, since we had the whole museum to explore with an open bar it was easy to escape having to talk to family! Though my drunk relatives were pretty entertaining. This includes Maeko, who I didn’t even get a picture with because I only saw her twice in 5 hours!  Her dress was absolutely gorgeous and very Mae.  Here are a few of my favorite pictures, please notice beer on the rosa parks bus – FTW

Sunday was the Detroit Zoo Kidney Walk. My Dad, LP, C and I walked around the zoo. The weather was beautiful and it was nice to spend time with them.

And the best for last. Both the wedding and kidney walk had photobooths!!!
