Three best to have in plenty – sunshine, wisdom and generosity.
Irish Triad

This past sunday I ran my first 5k.  It was kind of last minute so there wasn’t much training.  I bought good shoes 3 days before the race and I can tell you that my quads thought that was the worst idea ever.

Surprisingly I didn’t hate the 5k, I actually found it kind of fun to be in such a huge group of people.  There were over 7,000 walkers/runners.  I liked it so much that I think I’m going to run another one the beginning of April.

No picture of me actually running, C was in the bar and when he came outside we were already done. I think he was as bummed as I was that he didn’t get a picture. He promises next time though. :)

It’s a big joke to everyone that I am a little Irish so I thought I’d share part of an email from my Grams  I got today.  She’s referring to our Ireland trip, but it is fitting for today too.

Afterall, you do have some of the Irish in you from Great Grams!!!

In other news not related to St. Patrick’s Day, Nani got her teeth extracted around 11am this morning. The doctor said it went perfectly and she should be able to eat solid food in about 4 days. Thank you for all your kind words.

Sixpack Sisters – This was a collaboration with Riley at Wayfaring Stranger.  We both are always working to be the best self we can be and we decided to start a fitness blog to motivate and keep track of those last 10lbs in search of sixpack abs.  With it being Christmas time, I’m having a hard time.  If you are looking for a place where you can motivate yourself to get rid of the last 10lbs we are always looking for new contributors.

Reverb10 – Not here but elsewhere and I’m finding it hard to keep up.  I know I should make time to really think out my answers but instead I just feel rushed and guilty that I’m behind. Do.Not.Like.

750words.com – This is a cool idea and I think if I can stick with it it will help increase my creativity.  It’s pretty much a challenge to write 750 words a day.  It doesn’t have to be coherent or have a point, it’s basically just a brain dump so I have room in my head to bring out the great ideas I know are in there.

Yoga – I want to buy classes now.  So bad that I’d whip out my exhausted credit card and buy them, but I still have 2 free classes and a week trial before I have to buy anything.  Patience.  I think they teach you that there too.  I’m infatuated with Slow Flow yoga.  We are talking love, like I want to hug it and squeeze it and be its best friend for life.

Anything new you’ve joined?

I have fallen off of my workout wagon, like it’s running me over. I feel shame but I’m hopeful that I’ll find the motivation I had this summer again. My friend Stefanie on the other hand, has her eyes on competing in the 2011 Fit Nation Triathlon Challenge! Check out her submission that could earn her a spot to train alongside CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta for the 2011 Nautica New York City Triathlon.

(if you are in your reader, click out to see the video or watch it on cnn)

Triathlon athletes amaze me.  It takes a lot of training, stamina and motivation.  Good luck Stefanie!

Have you ever thought about training for a triathlon?

I had a love/hate affair with this weekend.  The LOVES were the best of the best and the HATES well, you know.

The SUPER FUN FANTASTIC

– The mitten blogger meet up, skillfully arranged by Sillygrrl.  She planned a great night of dinner and bowling in Midtown Detroit.  I haven’t been to the Majestic since I saw Treble Charger play there in 2001!

(Ginger Mandy, JenRem, Maeko, LauReality, Sillygrrl, Supergirl)

Strikes!

This is an awesome group of ladies!  I’m so glad I finally got to meet all of you in person.  Supergirl (along with Sillygrrl) was one of my first Michigan bloggers in my reader.  It was nice to see her face :)

(Missed you Mel!)

– Hanging out with Maeko before the meetup.  I <3 her.  She helped me with my makeup and I might have spilled some secrets on the way to the meetup.  Afterwards we drove around looking for a grocery store open to buy mac and cheese.  But our mac and cheese eating and glee watching plan came apart because of her sick doggie.  She also let me borrow socks to wear with the cute bowling shoes they make you wear.  It should be said that I was quite bratty about it, but I think I’m ok since she’s family and she can’t exactly get rid of me. Haha.

– Aerial Yoga – I got up on the high trapeze!!  And I flipped upside down on the fabric.  I don’t have any photographic evidence, but I think Ginger Mandy will vouch for me :)

–  Sparring on Saturday morning.  I got Master J in the head.  He even stopped to give me a high five.  Don’t worry, I didn’t have time to be excited about it because the next round I got a foot, firmly planted in my face.

The CRAPTASTIC

– Going to lunch with my great Aunt who is in her late 70′s who became faint after lunch.  I’m the last person you want around when you aren’t feeling well.  It was also reminiscent of my mom and completely got under my skin.

– Sunday I got up feeling quite emotional because these past couple of weeks have been really wearing on me.  I’ve had a lot of stuff going on.  Some really great, some not so fun but things that needed to be done.  I’m stressing about my black belt testing and yada, yada.  Bottom line I tried to get some errands out of the way Sunday before aerial yoga.  I was running late but thought I had enough time time get in and out of CVS.  Um no, they’ve only been filling my birth control pills for years now.  They took Sunday to mess it up and instead of spending 2 minutes in the store it was more like 15.  I might have bawled my eyes out on the way to yoga.

– When I got to yoga I was split up from Sillygrrl and Ginger Mandy.  Ok, totally not the day for that, I almost started crying again.  Yeah, I was that girl.  What a big baby.  It turned out ok.  I totally saw Ginger Mandy kick ass on the trapeze (you go girl!) and I heard that Sillygrrl was totally climbing the fabric to the moon.  I have no doubt, she’s inspirational on the fabric.

– I got home from the grocery store to find Scooby chewed more of the couch cushion we haven’t started paying on.

– I had just made some tea, the dvd ready to play Crouching Tiger Hidden dragon, and made a comforting grilled cheese when someone knocked on my door.  My friend AP stopped by with her 2 kids (ages 1 and 3) and husband.  While I was happy to see them because it’s been so long, last night was not the perfect night.

How was your weekend?

These past couple of Mondays have been awful for me.  Today I’m blaming it on the fact I haven’t slept well.  I’ve been dreaming like I’m watching tv.  I don’t know the people in my dreams and it’s just life that’s going on.  Last night was all about this woman getting married on the beach.  I don’t even know, it was boring but I couldn’t “change the channel or turn it off”.  I’ve also been running around since Friday and I don’t think my mind ever had a chance to unwind.

If you follow me on twitter you might have saw my annoying tweets about not going to taekwondo and then yes I am going.  I called my dad to tell him I wasn’t going to make it but then was filled with this shame, like I was being a disappointment for not going.  After a half an hour of feeling like I made the wrong decision I called him back and said I was coming in.

I test in 12 days!  I have to get 6 photos to turn in with my 1st degree application.  I will be considered a weapon. Heh, me a weapon.

I worked from home on Friday.  I think I actually worked harder on Friday than during the week because I not only worked for work but I cleaned the bathroom, did laundry, dishes, ran to target and made it to taekwondo.  It was crazy.  I got up at 9 and didn’t sit down until 4 to watch Lady Gaga on Oprah and then left to go to taekwondo.  I’m tired just thinking about my Friday.

Saturday was a lot of errand running after I got my ass kicked at sparring.

And Sunday, oh Sunday.  I met up with Ginger Mandy and Sarah for our first aerial yoga class.   It was so much fun!  I can’t wait to go back next week.  And these ladies are all kinds of awesome.

After class I rushed home to change and go to a retirement party.  I swear I was home by 8 but then there was all the normal Sunday night things that needed to be done.  I feel like my brain is going a mile a minute and the brakes are broken.
