holy crap!
I haven’t been to the movies in years I think. I guess it’s sad but I don’t really watch movies. Sure there are movies I want to see but then you know the saying “out of sight, out of mind”. But I finally broke the movie draught on Friday. L Pizza and I went and saw Bride Wars (which by the way was funny and cute).
The movie isn’t waht I wan to talk about though. It’s the prices and holy shit the drinks.
I don’t know if this picture does the drinks justice. One alone weighed as much as small dog (think tea cup chihuahua). I couldn’t fit my hand around it, I was scared I was going to drop and spill it all over the floor. The size of the drinks had me laughing hysterically all the way to theater 3. Not to mention that L P and I were thinking ok “2 medium drinks and a large popcorn should be about $13″ um no, the total was $17something. $17?! For a pop that I’m not even going to drink 1/4 of and popcorn we at maybe half of?! Seriously, if you drank even half of that you might as well just stay in the restroom and enjoy the view of the stall door.
And get this, if we would have each gotten a small popcorn and a small pop it would have been $20! Obviously this movie thing is a treat and Iwill be smuggling in my own water and box of candy next time. The tickets alone were $9.50 (ha I got a student discount though!) I remember it being $8.50 the last time I went.
Apparently you have to break into the savings account before a movie outing. So tell me, do you go to the movies or wait until it comes out on dvd and watch it at home? With our new tv and comfy couch I have no problem waiting for it to come out on dvd.

Exactly! I rarely go to movies because 1) tickets are expensive, b) food is expensive and 3).. well there is no 3.

I only go to the movies when it is a movie I absolutely have been dying to see….hubby and I don’t just go because we have nothing better to do…WAAAAAY to expensive. The movie theatre is in the mall, so we hit up the Dollar Store before hand and buy dollar boxes of candy to sneak in : )
It pains me whenever I have to fork out the money for a movie (and snacks) there. Yeah, I love popcorn, but is it worth that $10?
I usually get the kids popcorn/drink combo. My boy HATES it because I make him carry it.
We usually wait for something on DVD unless it’s something we knew that was going to come out and we’ve been waiting forever. Etc. We have netflix and I make kickass popcorn over the stove. WAY better than the theater. And I use real creamy butter, not the oily fake buttery tasting stuff.
I can make popcorn and pop for around $5. Totally worth it.
PS: I always sneak in water. Just bring in a bigger than usual purse. No one usually checks.
I often bring my own candy, too.
If I can buy milk duds at the gas station for $1.50, I’m all for it. I will not spend $4 on the same size box at the theater!
I am proud to admit I also sneak in treats to the movies. That’s what my extra big purse is for! I have fit 2 sodas and enough candy for 3 people in there!
I love going to the movies, so this is the only way to make it more affordable.
might as well just enjoy the movie experience once in a while, a movie at blockbuster now cost $5! 5 dollars to Rent a movie for a couple days…and we wonder why no one ever has any money anymore haha. but yeah the theaters are totally outrageous now-a-days!
the prices at the theater are def insane! if i go- we go to a early show. i dont usually get popcorn or anything tho.
i really enjoy the Red Box dvd rental machines. it’s only $1 for a night! and usually you can get promo codes for free rentals and they’re all new releases!
I love going to the movis – there’s nothing like movie popcorn.
But I rarely go as J isn’t as big a fan as I am. But I am thinking of dragging a friend with me to go. It’s also rather expensive here in SA but not so much that I wouldn’t go. 
I always stop at the store and fill my bag with snacks before heading to the movies. Plus, a bunch of the AMC theaters offer half price movies during the week.
I love love love going to the movies, but I recently decided that the condiments are WAY to expensive so I stop at a dollar store on the way in… lol
