Holy Crap People!  Seriously this is supposed to be my winter break.  Break meaning I should be sitting on my ass watching tv, reading books, walking my dogs, shopping, getting to go to the black belt class.  Instead I’m moving boxes and being so exhausted that all my days are blurring together.

So the news people.  We bought a house.  You might remember that this house hunting started back in February and there were many heartachesand horrors with losing houses to higher bids and then finally a mortgage falling through one week before closing.   Then there was a house that we put a bid in on and we later pulled out.  I wasn’t ready to buy a house.  That was six months ago and the truth?  I still am not ready to buy a house.  But this house that we purchased was perfect and it kind of miraculously fell into our laps.  It was everything we had on on WANT/NEED list.  It’s 3 bedrooms, 1.5 bathrooms, basement, 2.5 car attached garage and the best part?  .5 acres.  That’s a perfect sized backyard for our 3 doggies.

When we put our bid in on it even our realtor told us not to get our hopes up.  There were other offers and it was move-in ready in a really nice neighborhood.  It’s wooded and quiet.  A lot of bang for our  buck.  (Did you get the reference to Property Virgins on HGTV?  No?)

So we moved this weekend.  But guess where I am right now, and not because I don’t have internet at the other house.  I’m at the rental house, my dad’s house.  Why?  Well because of the severe wind storm we had on Saturday the power went out along with like 230,000 people.  And it’s still not back on. DTE estimates that we should have it back tomorrow evening by 11:45pm.  But possibly not since we are under another severe wind alert.

Truth be told I’m scared shitless of owning a house.  Most people would be excited.  Me, not so much.  Not yet anyway.  Maybe it will change.

So that is the news.  I own (at least partly) a house and we can’t stay there because there is no power, which means no heat.  It has a fireplace but it doesn’t warm up the house enough and we have to worry about the temperatures for the (guinea) pigs.

I hope your Holiday break is much more relaxing than mine! (and I know I don’t sound thrilled, I sound ungrateful, but that’s how I am when big things happen)

xoxo

Ria

Congrats on buying a house! I think you’ll get excited about it in time. I’m sure I’d be stressed out, too, worrying about everything that needs to be done. Good luck!
