When it’s not one thing it’s another. We had to take Liko, our 15lbs rat terrier to the emergency vet. When we got home from grocery shopping we noticed an Advil bottle laying in the middle of the floor. We predict that he ate at least 6 and not more than 15 tablets. His eyes were glazed and his little body swayed when he tried to walk. Than the vomiting started. We are talking projectile (sorry that was probably TMI). The emergency vet told me I had to call the ASPCA poison control before I came in. There was $60 out the window. He has to stay at the hospital for fluids and charcoal for the next 24 hours and than they will decide if he needs to stay. The biggest fears are renal failure or damage and ulcers. Luckily, we caught it early and his vomiting may have helped. Tomorrow we might have to have him transfered to his normal vet for more fluids and a renal check. You don’t even want to know how much this is costing and I don’t even have the final amount. But what are you supposed to do? Refuse treatment? I don’t think so.
*sigh there goes our vacation
Hopefully little Liko will be feeling better by tomorrow.

Aw, I’m sorry your doggy went through that. And sorry your wallet has to suffer too.
Get well soon Liko!
aww poor liko! well you gotta do what you gotta do for your “kids” no matter how much money it costs! hope the little guy is feeling better and no permanent damage!!
Oh no! I hope he’s OK
what possessed him to eat pills?? damn dogs! sorry he spent up your vacation money; you are good for taking care of him. stupid- adorable-asshole-i-love-them dogs. =)
Ohh poor thing! I hope he’s ok! Dogs do some of the dumbest things sometimes! And we will always pay HUNDREDS to fix their problems. I’ll be thinking of you and that little guy today!
Oh that is so scary!!! Penny did that last week, we found my bottle of vitamins on the floor and I’m guessing she ate at least 9. Luckily she didn’t get sick or anything, when I googled the vitamin it said that it’s really good for dogs and they put it in their food. Now she has shinier hair!! What a lucky dog… (and us, because I also googled the cost of recovery if those pills were bad for her and it is a lot)
I’m so sorry, I hope she feels better soon!!
PS. Bread and water are good in this cases to help the stomach deal with all the stuff a dog just ate. (If given right away) I gave Penny about 4 slices of bread and water and she was fine. Obviously, it all depends on what kind of ‘stuff’ a dog ate, but I thought it would be helpful for everybody
I’m speechless. I am so sorry! But I read the post after this one and know he’s fine and at home- that’s the good news! I know how much you love your dogs!
