So not to get political…I have strong views, I usually keep them under control so I don’t offend anyone. But I’d like to address this. So if you don’t like what I have to say…um…then don’t read it. kthx.

Yesterday I was reading an article about how China blacked out Tibet News, and I was appalled. I couldn’t imagine living in a country that would do things like that. Yeah ok that was me being naive. Here’s an article published in today’s Detroit Metro Times about a study of health conditions and environmental hazards in the Great Lakes states, including Michigan. But no one ever saw the findings because the GOVERNMENT suppressed it.

Here’s a little excerpt:

The study warns that more than 9 million people who live in the so-called “areas of concern,” including the Detroit area, face, Kaplan says, “elevated health risks from being exposed to dioxin, PCBs, pesticides, lead, mercury or six other hazardous pollutants.”

And, oh, yes, researchers found “low birth weights, elevated rates of infant mortality and premature births, and elevated death rates from breast cancer, colon cancer and lung cancer.”

So why was this very important report suppressed? Kaplan thinks it may have been because the Bush administration didn’t want anyone calling for money to clean this up.

Granted, I know this is only one article, but can you imagine how many things are suppressed/covered up? I watched a very mind blowing, eye opening documentary on 9/11. It’s called Loose Change. Only watch if you want your bubble to burst and start questioning the “information” we were spoon fed.

Who voted this asshole in not once but twice (HATE HATE HATE)? And by the time the next election comes around the damage is already done.

homemade pizza
Mmmmmm…homemade green pepper and mushroom pizza. Nothing fancy but it’s delicious, especially with some beer. Cheers!

Now all I want to do is curl up with a good book.   Next reads:

  • Kitchen Confidential (maybe?) -  Anthony Bourdain
  • Bright Lights, Big Ass – Jen Lancaster
  • Buddhism without Beliefs – Stephen Batchelor
  • Buddhism Is Not What You Think: Finding Freedom Beyond Beliefs – Steve Hagen
  • Gods behaving badly (fiction) – Marie Phillips

Yes, I am going to read books on Buddhism.  No, I’m not Buddhist.

sunsilk hairapyI finally got my haircut on Saturday after a 3 month hiatus. I was so ready for it. I’m not a beauty girl, I wish sometimes I was (I’d love to know how to style my own hair when I go out and to know what color eyeshadow would look best).  I don’t get up a half hour early to do my hair and makeup. Hair in the morning consists of running my fingers through it and usually putting it in a pony tail. Makeup is mascara on a good day (which is not often). I try really hard not to go out with bedhead, don’t worry.

On a whim at Target this weekend I picked up Sunsilk, Sea Mist. I love Love LOVE it! It takes all of 2 seconds to spray on my hair and scrunch. It says it’s for the beach look. Perfect! I do have to say that my hair is naturally wavy/curly so I might have an advantage over you girls with straight hair. If you want that just out of the ocean look definitely try this  :)

So do you ever have thoughts run through your head and as soon as you think them you reprimand yourself for thinking that? I do it every day at least 10 times. Here are today’s top 10 mean/inappropriate thoughts:

  1. Does she know those boots make her feet look huge?
  2. Please stop breathing on me…
  3. Why does he stop in the doorway every time he walks by and why is he staring at the wall obviously waiting for enlightenment?
  4. Just shut up!
  5. And I care why…
  6. I promise I’m smarter than that
  7. She secretly likes all the drama in her family, she’s addicted to all the Brittany Spears gossip
  8. I wonder how she gets her eyes to bug out like that
  9. They make these things…they call them cough drops
  10. She thinks she’s special, but I think she’s pathetic

Whoops, there goes that squeaky clean nice girl image. Damn…

I wasn’t sure I’d have something to put up for today. It’s been pretty uneventful (and I enjoyed it immensley). I was inspired when I sat down at the computer in our computer room. My little buddy jumped up on the chair next to me and watched me curiously.
dog on chair
Liko always sits with me when I’m on the computer. He loves to just curl up or sometimes he “sneaks” (it’s hard to type with a dog in the way, so I always notice) onto my lap.  It’s nice to have some company when I’m playing on the computer :)

Driving home from Cheli’s:

Me: So that’s five houses we’ve lost

C♥: Yep, that’s what we do, that’s how we roll…

Me: Great…

shamrocksAccording the people on the radio, today is St. Practice Day (Get it to practice for the real St. Patrick’s day). Yeah. Dumb. C♥ decided to go on a “date” tonight. We actually decided this last Wednesday, when C♥ asked me out. (Yeah, gag I understand, but it was cute). We went to Cheli’s Chili Bar. The food was decent but we had a good time watching hockey and drinking beer. We actually had pretty good conversation too.

The hostess looked exactly like Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) it was freaking me out. C♥ thought so too. He used to hate when I watched that show and would obnoxiously walk by and say “Rooooorrrrry” when I was watching it.

When we got home we took a couple pictures of us in the bay window and then got the bright idea to get the dogs in there too. The first one we look like frustrated parents trying to get the dogs to sit before the timer went off. The got better and better with each one we took but none were perfect. Geesh like the dogs can’t realize we need them to look at the camera…lol.

meeting documentI have proof from my meeting tonight that age ≠ maturity. Our SIT (Shelter In-House Training) Team is made up of mostly volunteers. HOWEVER, a new trainer/behavior evaluator was hired some time ago. She was a vet tech for a number of years and has a lot of knowledge and experience. The SIT Team classes were developed by two very invested volunteers and they also have a lot of knowledge. Where this starts to get bad is when the staff/professional butts heads with the volunteers who formed the program. Technically the staff would be able to restructure the program and offer suggestions. Where the maturity comes in is instead of taking the suggestions and making note of them, the 2 volunteers basically said “No”, which resulted in a stand off. In the end one of the volunteers stormed out and the rest of us sat in stunned silence. It was uncomfortable to say the least. I’m pretty sure there will be no more meetings, which is sad because we all want to help our doggies get adopted, but without a cohesive team it’s that much harder. Now we have hurt feelings and tempers to deal with. I know I didn’t tell a very good story but I really have no desire to rehash it. I do know that if there is another meeting, pizza and pop is not enough, we need LIQUOR.

Today marked the start of 120+ miles driven every Friday from now until (fingers crossed) July. This is what the car schedule looks like:

7am: Drive to work (30 miles)

11am: Drive to tae kwon do (30 miles)

1:30pm: Drive back to work (30 miles)

5pm: Drive home (30 miles)

Luckily (I guess) it’s mostly freeway so it’s not too much wear and tear on my car BUT it’s probably going to be a little hard on the checking account. It will be worth it! I’m getting lots of extra tkd training, which hopefully means toner arms, legs and abs. Woohoo. I dread the 20 minutes we spend solely on the stomach area but I will close my eyes, grind my teeth and think of happier thoughts.

Tonight I will have to add an extra 20 miles because I have a DAS meeting directly after work.

Happy Friday Everyone!!!
